Dr. Goodkin is one of the few physicians who is fully trained in both Eastern and Western medical techniques, bringing to his patients an unusual perspective and combination of abilities. His acupuncture practice includes the state-of-the-art Acutron device for needleless, acupuncture and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments.

After 12 years in private practice as a podiatrist, Dr. Goodkin returned to school and received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree. He now primarily uses Eastern techniques, but incorporates Western techniques and remedies when necessary.

Dr. Goodkin with the Acutron

In recent years, Dr. Goodkin has treated many patients who want to look younger with the Acutron, a device combining microcurrent therapy and therapeutic light and color. This state-of-the-art device works on a cellular level to counteract the harmful effects of pollution, dry climate, overexposure to sun, smoking, alcohol, stress, and more. Clients are especially pleased with the reults of the non-surgical face lift done with the Acutron.

The Acutron can be used for any condition normally treated with acupuncture needles and is effective for managing pain, accelerating healing, and many physical disorders.

Microcurrent has been used for many years for effectively treating sports injuries. Dr. Goodkin uses the Acutron along with his specialized training in podiatry to help athletes enhance performance, and heal injuries. He has helped runners increase speed and distance and bicyclists and tennis players increase strength and endurance.

Conditions that respond well to the treatments offered by Dr. Goodkin include sprains, muscle pulls, overuse injuries, inflammation, and pain.

Dr. Goodkin graduated from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1983 and completed postgraduate training at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn. He graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 1997. For ten years, Dr. Goodkin taught courses in biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, physics and Western medicine and was clinical supervisor at Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

An interesting fact is that medical doctors who use acupuncture usually attend a 300-hour course in techniques. Few receive their degree as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, which is a full three-year training, as Dr. Goodkin has. He is the only DOM/Podiatrist in New Mexico and one of four in the United States.

Dr. Goodkin is a now a member of the medical team at Foot and Ankle Associates in Santa Fe.

Testimonials

“At 67, I was seriously considering a surgical face lift but decided to give Dr. Goodkin’s Acutron a chance. I am really pleased with the results. There has been a noticeable reduction in the deep lines around my mouth and the sagging skin around my eyes. Much to my surprise, I also have been feeling generally more energized and intend to continue acupuncture treatments on a regular basis to maintain this feeling.” D. L. – Santa Fe.
