Dr. Ripich’s practice, called The One Medicine, is guided by a philosophy of employing the best in both evidence-based natural treatments and enlightened Western science. He offers compassionate primary and acute care with a holistic approach to health and healing. Because he holds certification as both a Naturopathic Physician and Nurse Practitioner, his training and privileges are similar to those of an allopathic medical doctor.

Conventional allopathic medicine views illness as an invasion of foreign organisms that must be vanquished with an intervention, usually with drugs or surgery. A naturopathic physician, on the other hand, views symptoms as the body’s response to pressures that move it out of balance.

The role of the naturopathic physician is to find the cause of the imbalance and then to prescribe whatever the individual patient needs in order to restore a state of balance. In acute situations, the patient might need a drug, but in most cases more natural methods can be used that are tailored to each patients individual needs and lifestyle, treating the entire person, not just an illness or condition.

Dr. Ripich combines excellent diagnostic skills with a variety of therapeutic modalities including clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, lifestyle counselling, bio-available hormone therapy, and whatever is needed that is offered by Western medicine, including prescriptions for drugs and laboratory testing.

His ongoing and rigorous training allows Dr. Ripich to offer his patients the best of care. He holds the unusual combination of certificates as both a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Specialist in Mental Health. At age 45, after an outstanding career at the Palo Alto Veteran’s Medical Center, Dr. Ripich decided to attend medical school and chose Naturopathic Medicine. He completed a four-year, on-site course at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medcine, a fully accredited medical school.

Dr. Ripich’s patients appreciate his caring approach and his 24/7 availability. He is an excellent listener who gives patients the time they need to feel fully heard and offers individually tailored solutions that “do no harm.”

“Dr. Stefan Ripich has become my primary care physician in Santa Fe. From my perspective, he defines the best of east/west medical practices. He takes an integrated approach to his patients, realizing their good health is based on numerous contributing factors. He knows his patients, follows good diagnostic medicine and recommends conservative treatments. I have had only positive experiences with Dr. Ripich, and feel that I am better hands in his care than any of my previous primary care physicians. I highly recommend his services.” – Emilie McIntyre, Santa Fe, NM
