Chelation Therapy

This therapy is considered useful in the treatment of atherosclerosis where calcium deposits clog the arteries. It involves injecting calcium EDTA into the blood, which bonds with calcium and removes it from the body via urine. The remaining plaque, now brittle and porous, is also dislodged and the arteries are cleared. This can minimize or prevent angina pain. Chelation therapy is also used to treat heavy-metal toxicity, including lead and mercury poisoning. Chelation therapy can be accomplished via intraveneous treatments or orally.
